Coffee futures (Arabica) reflect the price of green, unroasted Arabica coffee beans, the variety that dominates specialty and premium coffee markets worldwide. Brazil is by far the largest producer, followed by Colombia, and crop output is heavily influenced by rainfall patterns, frost risk in Brazilian growing regions, and the biennial nature of coffee tree yields. Global demand has grown steadily, supported by rising consumption in emerging markets and sustained café culture in developed economies. The contract is quoted in U.S. cents per pound.
