What drives this market

Corn futures represent one of the most widely traded agricultural commodities in the world, reflecting the price of No. 2 Yellow corn delivered at key U.S. Midwest grain terminals. The United States, Brazil, and Argentina are the dominant producers and exporters, and prices are shaped by planted acreage, weather during the growing season, ethanol blending mandates, livestock feed demand, and global export competition. Corn has a pronounced seasonal price pattern tied to the Northern Hemisphere planting and harvest cycle. The contract is quoted in U.S. cents per bushel on the CME Group's CBOT exchange.

Market context

Corn is trading at 502.37 USd per bushel, edging up about 0.4% today and gaining roughly 0.9% on the week. Despite a monthly pullback of about 4.8%, corn is up approximately 14.8% year-to-date and has risen around 20.1% compared to one year ago.
