Soybean Meal futures represent the price of the high-protein co-product derived from crushing soybeans, used extensively as a feed ingredient in poultry, hog, and aquaculture operations worldwide. The United States, Brazil, and Argentina are the dominant producers and exporters of both soybeans and meal, and prices move closely with soybean crush margins and global livestock feed demand. Argentine processing capacity is especially influential in global meal trade. The contract is quoted in U.S. dollars per short ton on the CME Group's CBOT exchange.

Soybean meal is trading at $329.30 per short ton, edging up about 0.2% on the day and gaining approximately 3.2% on the week. The monthly picture is slightly negative, down around 1.0%, while year-to-date the market has advanced roughly 13.1%. On a year-over-year basis, soybean meal is up approximately 13.1% as well, reflecting a broadly higher price environment compared to a year ago.
